Oops... Saturday, February 8, 2002 A lot has happened in the past few months that I just haven't had an opportunity to post about on this page. So, considering that the last time I updated this thing was in November, there's a lot of stuff to go over in the short amount of time that I have. I'm a very contemptful person, I think, and I tended to notice the annoying aspects of people at the end of last year. While I can't say that I've completely gotten over that, I can say that I am trying to focus on different things in my life that pertain to and affect me directly. Vague? Yes, but the point of this is not for you to understand what's going on in my head. Anyhow, I was king of the world last quarter...jobs, internships, frisbee, and finally that elusive 4.0 that had eluded me for quite some time because of stupid A minuses. Take that college! Over the winter break I went back to work at Sierra Biomedical and made quite a bit of cash over the short three weeks that I was there. I got paid probably for probably 15 hours or more of time that I didn't work because of all of the holidays. The break was all too short, however, and I guess I didn't get to spend as much time doing what I wanted to do as much as I would have liked. Flip the calendar, add a year, and bam, we're in January 2003. School starts again and I'm knee deep in work before I can say what the fuck. So the first few weeks were alright....and then it happened: We go to our first frisbee tournament of the year in Santa Barbara, and I do this to my leg. No one hit me or anything. I ran, I turned, my leg didn't, and SNAP! It was by far the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I wouldn't recommend going out and doing this if I were you. I broke both the tibia and fibula in my right leg, as you can see from the x-ray. Not only that, but I opted for surgery where they placed a steel rod in my leg to stabilize my tibia, and before I knew it, I had a bionic leg. So it's been exactly 2 weeks since that fateful day in Santa Barbara and I'm on the slow road to recovery. I had the surgery on January 27, left the hospital on January 28 (my 21st birthday) and proceeded to spend the next few days doped up on the couch on vicadin. I swear I have the worst luck in the world. This was the first frisbee tournament I have really looked forward to in a long, long time, and this is what I get for it. But hey, that's alright, I've made a promise to someone that I'm going to be walking on two feet without the aid of crutches or anything by the third week of March, and I don't plan on letting that person down. Thus has been my life for the past few months. Broken legs are no fun, but I don't plan on being out for too long. Just watch.
